Buddy’s Second Chance Rescue

The rescue this week is based out of the Kenmore/ Buffalo area that finds homeless, abused and neglected shelter dogs their “FUREVER” homes. Buddy’s Second Chance Rescue brings dogs in need from all over  to Western New York where they live with a foster family until they are able to help them find their loving forever homes.

The inspiration for the start up of the rescue in 2013, started with a beloved dog named Buddy. He was living in a shelter and scheduled to be euthanized, when he was adopted and given another chance at life! Because of Buddy, his owner decided she was going to continue to save dogs from euthanasia in shelters and her motto is “Save one until there are none!”

Like many other rescues, if you are not able to adopt and have a lifetime commitment there are other opportunities that you can make a positive impact on an animals life! Fosters are a very important part of a shelters success.  As a foster all you have to do is open your home to the dog(s) and provide unconditional love. The rescues  provide all of the necessities while you are fostering; food, toys, crates, treats, etc.

What I love about this rescue is if you  want to adopt, you have to fill out an application and be approved. After being approved the dogs foster family sets up a meet and greet and a home check to make sure the home is safe and everything is to the best standards for the dog! This process really ensures safety for the dog and it so important.

Here is some of the costs of adopting:

Adoption Fee for puppies: $300
Because this is not a breeder the fee includes:
Spayed/Neutered
Age appropriate vaccinations
Heartworm test (if the dog is over 6 months of age)
*The Adoption Fee for dogs 6 years old and older is only $150*

  1. I think it’s great that this organization has potentially owners complete an application in order to be approved. This is something the shelter near my house does as well and I think its awesome to make sure the dogs and cats are going to the right owners and the right home. We often see on the news how people have adopted dogs sole for fighting which is downright terrible. Thanks so much for sharing another adoption center!

  2. I think its a very good idea that this shelter does require the potential adopters to fulfill an application. I remember from one of your previous posts that many people adopt a dog and end up bringing it back to the shelter. This is fairly prevented by filling out an application, because the organization knows if you are the perfect fit for the animal!

  3. I like that the adopted animals come with spaying/neutering, heart worm tests, and vaccinations. I also think its nice that the older dogs are cheaper which gives them a bigger chance at being adopted. Thank you sharing, I love hearing about all the different shelters in the Western NY area.
